How I work

I provide both brief (6-12 weeks) and open-ended therapy. The length of therapy depends on your circumstances and needs and can be decided at the initial session. The sessions usually take place once a week, at the same time for 50 minutes.

My role is to be present and open to whatever you may bring into the session. I will listen, ask questions, help you to put your life challenges in perspective, encourage your creativity in overcoming them, guide you to find emotional balance, befriend your compassionate self and take control and responsibility for your life. I take an active stance in the session, but always at the pace that feels comfortable to you so we can work through difficult stuff when you feel ready.

Here is how it will work step-by-step:

  1. First, I provide a safe, accepting space so that you will feel comfortable sharing your struggles with me.

  2. Through hearing your story, I will start to get a picture of what your challenges are.

  3. We will start by helping you with immediate concerns like managing difficult emotions and challenging life situations.

  4. We will also work to discover what your goals are in therapy and life.

  5. Keeping your unique goals in mind, we will figure out what is needed to help you reach them.

  6. The exact direction of your counselling journey will depend on the issues you bring into the room, the perspectives I offer and the goals we set up together. I will keep checking with you how you feel about therapy and if we can change anything to make it work better for you.

  7. Throughout our sessions, you will start making progress towards your desired outcome.

  8. When the time comes, and you feel ready we will discuss and plan a therapeutic ending to process and honour the work we have done together at our final session.

Ready to start feeling better?
